I, Sri Samiullah Khan – President, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Educational Trust is engaged in implementing various activities related to Health, Child Education and Women empowerment issues in the Asia’s largest slum – Dharavi in Mumbai, India.
Dharavi is the most under-developed area in Mumbai – The commercial capital of India with 92% of the population living below the poverty line. The Infant and Child Mortality Rate is 150% higher than the already dismal national average. Chronic malnutrition is the single biggest contributor to the deaths of children under 5 in Dharavi. Symptoms like anemia, insufficient weight and size and weak health are very common factor among the Children s of this area.Among the consequences of malnutrition are stunted growth, increased susceptibility to disease and permanent intellectual damage. Widespread poverty and lack of access to quality pediatric health care, clean water, sanitation, and education compound this problem.
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Educational Trust is determined to change this horrible situation by providing in-house and out-patient care to hundreds of infants and young children each year, as well as family nutrition education & community outreach efforts. To achieve this we adopt a holistic approach, embracing both the children and their social environment by way of:
Building intervention programs for children – from conception to 6 years of age
Influencing their care givers and social environment by providing education on the right choices regarding health and nutrition.
We need your valuable support in this mission of ours and hence requesting you to provide us a partnership application form to share u our programs in details.
Hope, with active help from your end, our organization will be able to put a strong fight against the world problem like child malnutrition in the hunger in Dharavi.
Thanking You,
Yours Faithfully
